Here at Ponderosa Kennels we have been training retrievers for the field, for trials and hunt tests for over thiry years. We started training retriever gun dogs and then began running hunt tests when NAHRA first started.

When the AKC frist began offering Hunt Test Titles we switched and ran the AKC events. After lots of fun and titles we started to enter local AKC Licensed Retriever Field Trials. We had a great run of it. We traveled from Florida to Canada running weekend trials and coast to coast running the National Championships.

Around 1997 we decided to retire from the field trial circuit and we have been training full time from our home in Maryland every since. IN addition to ouor many hunting dogs that prove themselves daily in the fields and marshes our clients run their own dogs successfully in competition and continue to earn hunt test titles and field trial placements.

We offer board and train for retrievers and daily training for clients that train their own dogs.
